Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was research the effects of specific frequency and application timing of microcurrent (MC) on mechanical property of muscle caused by delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

Methods: The subjects were 32 healthy adults and 8 subjects were randomly assigned to four groups (¥°: 40Hz MC during DOMS, ¥±: 40Hz MC after DOMS, ¥²: 284Hz MC during DOMS, ¥³: 284Hz MC after DOMS). DOMS is applied to biceps brachii muscle and MC was applied at a intensity of 300 §Ë for 10 minutes. Mechanical properties of muscle were measured before and immediately after DOMS.

Results: In muscle tone, there were significant differences in interaction effects between time and groups. In muscle elasticity and stiffness, there were no significant differences in interaction effects between time and groups but there were only significant differences in time of main effects.

Conclusion: The results indicated that 40Hz MC had on effect on reducing muscle tone regardless of application timing. However, both 40Hz and 284Hz MC did not affect changes in muscle elasticity and stiffness regardless of application timing.
